David Steven Cling, 42 years old, of Springfield, SC, died on February 24th, 2026, at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, SC. He was the son of Debbie Sorrell of Fredericksburg, VA, and Wesley (Myrtle) Cling of Williston, SC. Funeral services will be held at Springfield Baptist Church on Saturday, March 7th, at 3:00pm.

Mr. Cling was born in Fredericksburg , VA. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church.

Surviving are his parents, his widow, Ashley Nicole Cling, his five children: Mary Elizabeth, Michael, Alyssa, and Ray Cling, the mother of his children, Kristin (Dillon) Penley of Springfield, SC, and his stepbrothers, Terry (Ashleigh) Stephenson and Marcus Stephenson, both of Williston, SC. Abby Butler parents: Shannon(Chris) Talley of Virginia As well as his aunts, Mary Ann (Ed) Solomon, Nett Parker, Minnie Lee (Harry) Fanning, and Deborah (Jack) Watts and his uncle, Ricky (Francis) Smith.

He is predeceased by his aunt, Lorraine (Mike) Watts.
