Labinia T.
Medina-Avendano
March 10, 1978 – April 25, 2026
On April 25, 2026, at the age of 48, Labinia T. Medina Avendano peacefully entered eternal rest, surrounded by the people who loved her most. Born in San Lorenzo, Honduras, she built a life defined by love, resilience, and a deep commitment to caring for others. Whether as a mother, sister, daughter, or friend, she gave her whole heart to those around her.
Her kindness was quiet but powerful. Her presence brought comfort. Her jokes brought light. Her smile and laugh were contagious. Even with her being sick, she never changed—she remained independent, full of life, always making jokes and laughing. She loved to listen to music and go dancing, and she enjoyed simple joys like sharing meals, especially her favorite Indian and Chinese foods. Her love, especially for her daughter, Jaylin, was the center of her world.
She also loved to cook, especially for her daughter, and was known for making birthdays and holidays special with her meals. She would often bake cakes for celebrations and took pride in bringing everyone together through food. Some of her family’s favorites were her flan and her green beans with bacon, which she made for Thanksgiving. She loved cooking for the holidays, often joking that no one else was going to cook.
Labinia is survived by her daughter, Jaylin Ventura Medina; her mother, Yaneth Avendano Reyes; her sister, Alice Ortiz Avendano; her brother, Adams Ortiz Avendano, and her dog Max.
A memorial service honoring her life will take place on May 2, 2026, at Shepherd's Funeral Home located at 104 Old Trolley Road, Summerville, South Carolina. The family wishes to thank Oakbrook Rehabilitation and DCI Dialysis- Nexton staff for the compassion they showed during her final days.
